MUSEUM OF CHINESE IN THE AMERICAS
JOB OPENINGS

The Museum of Chinese in the Americas (MoCA) is the first full-time,
professionally staffed museum dedicated to reclaiming, preserving, and
interpreting the history and culture of the Chinese in the Western
Hemisphere.  People of all backgrounds are able to explore the diversity
and complexity of our history and culture, while gaining unique access to
the images, papers, oral histories and artifacts which document the
story.

Entering our 20th program year of bringing exhibitions, educational
programs and services to the Chinese American community and the general
public, MoCA has planned a full year of exciting new projects.  


Program Coordinator (part-time)
Responsibilities related to the implementation of programs for 1999-2000
include: 
· scheduling program events
· coordinating involvement of participating artists, scholars, and others
· production of written program-related materials  
· producing and distributing quarterly program calendar
· assisting with press outreach and communications
· and other relevant tasks as determined by the executive director

3 days or 20 hours per week.

Flexible individual with excellent communication skills.  Evening and
weekend hours required as necessary.  Must have knowledge of computers
and software programs.  Experience in an arts organization or Asian
Pacific American community organization a plus.  Bi-lingual/bi-literate
in Chinese a plus.  The Program Coordinator will work closely with the
Executive Director and other staff members in any and all aspects of the
Museum's programs and services as needed.  Salary commensurate with
experience.


Exhibit Tour Coordinator (Part-time only, through Spring 2001)
Responsibilities related to the national tour of our critically acclaimed
exhibit "Fly To Freedom: Art of the Golden Venture Refugees":
· Assist in the production of a pre-tour portfolio of information for
venues and potential venues
· Coordinate schedule, crating and shipping needs
· Communicate as a liaison with site coordinators and museum staff
· Produce all exhibit-related printed materials to accompany the tour
· Write and distribute all press related communications, working closely
with the development associate
· Write reports as needed for funders, promotional activities, etc.

The Museum is seeking a flexible individual committed to the mission of
the Museum.  Able to work evenings and weekends if necessary.  Must have
knowledge of computers and software programs.  Excellent written and
interpersonal communication skills required.  Experience in an arts
organization or Asian Pacific American community organization is a plus. 
Salary commensurate with experience.  


Museum Assistant (part-time)
Responsibilities:
· Provide clerical support for press outreach and communications,
fundraising activities, publication work, and programs 
· Museum reception duties include handling general visitor and telephone
inquiries, correspondence and mailings, scheduling group visits, and
other light office work
· Data entry and word processing
· Other tasks as needed to support the work of the Museum

Knowledge of computers and standard software programs required.  Prior
experience in an Asian American community or arts organization is a plus.
$7.00 per hour.  15 hours a week.
