Andrea,

See if you can find this interesting paper:

Freznel, Gottfried. The Restoration of Medieval Stained Glass.  ("The
victim of its own composition and of modern air pollution, Europe's most
radiant art is now threatened with destruction.  The efforts at
preservation depend on knowledge of the glass...")  7 pages with
pictures.  Discusses composition, chemistry, restoration and
conservation.  Not too much about storage, however, after reading the
article, common sense will prevail.

Unfortunately I didn't a good record of where I found (probably
something like Scientific American) it but if you can't find it in a
periodical search, you can contact me and I'll fax you a copy.  The
pictures will definitely not turn out well though.

Also, ask the same question on a conservation list.  Try
