This question may be addressed to the wrong forum. If so, I apo-
logize. Is it the usual procedure for museums serving county
historical societies to remove all the photos from their albums
then file them in manila folders holding the rest of their photo
collection, sorted alphabetically for the surnames? And if the
photo shows a location, to be placed in a file with the name of
that location? The result is that the integrity of this particu-
lar item, the album, is lost when it is torn apart. If the photos
were instead kept together as a unit, there would be some hope of
someday identifying the unidentified people in them.
