PRESERVATION 101: Preservation Basics for Paper and Media Collections

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  May 12, 2017

The interactive online course presents a series of 10 webinars and includes self-paced study between sessions, using assigned readings and other resources to supplement the "classroom" discussions.  The course is designed to provide a foundation for effective collections stewardship by guiding participants through preservation topics such as environmental management, deterioration of materials, and emergency preparedness. 

The updated course features expanded coverage of audiovisual and digital formats, prepares participants to complete a preservation needs assessment, and provides structured guidance on developing an institutional disaster plan.

WHEN: 
A two-hour session, once a week, starting June 1, 2017, and ending August 24, 2017.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
-  Staff and volunteers at museums, libraries, archives, and historical organizations 
-  Town clerks, county commissioners, and other municipal records holders
-  Corporate archivists and records managers in need of preservation training
-  Students or graduates of library and information science

(Certificate of Completion provided, and 20 Archival Recertification Credits (ARCs) for eligible certified archivists.)
