Check with some of the local shelving, and compacting shelving,
installers. As an institution's needs change, they often remove
perfectly good shelving, to install a different type of shelving; some
of these installers will give away the old rather than pay disposal (I
suspect that they can also write off the donation). We have had
exceptional luck getting shelving this way. You may have to adjust your
needs or parameters slightly, but often you can get very nice shelving
for the cost of shipping and/or installation.

Joshua,
You might try www.globalindustrial.com
We purchased metal shelving from them in the past and it came promptly
and worked out well for us.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Looking for Metal Shelving

We're looking for some more metal shelving for expanded storage and I am
having very little success finding plain jane metal shelving. All the
local hardware stores carry is metal supported, particle board shelving.

Anyone have any suggestions? Looking for 2x4 and 2x5.

Regards,
