If your state has an organization such as: "____ Lawyers for the Arts",
please contact them for an INDEPENDENT assessment, especially as part of
the answer would depend on the situation in your particular state. In
Colorado I serve on the board of our state assembly of local arts
councils, The Colorado Arts Consortium. Last year The Colorado Lawyers for
the Arts recommended to us that for our circumstances, board insurance was
not something that was needed. I do not know the legal particulars at all
but it is nice to have expertise available to advise you that is NOT tied
in any way to the insurance industry or operating by rote.
