INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PLANET EARTH LECTURE SERIES
The International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) is a joint initiative of UNESCO
and the International Union of Geological Sciences. Its goals are to promote
the collaborative work of the world’s earth scientists and to increase public
awareness of how the earth sciences serve society. There are 10 themes for
the IYPE ranging from ocean sciences and biodiversity to hazards mitigation
and climate change. Organizations that already have planned lectures on one
or more of the themes for 2008 and/or 2009 are invited to collaborate with the
IYPE. To learn more about the IYPE and the themes, go to
www.yearofplanetearth.org. To find out more about the IYPE public lectures
and collaborating with IYPE, e-mail [log in to unmask]
