The Coordinator of Marketing and Membership Development is a dynamic, energetic individual responsible for managing membership revenue streams that support the South Dakota Art Museum’s mission, strategic vision, programs, and special projects.  This professional works in partnership with the Executive Director and collaboratively with the board and the SDSU Foundation staff developing and executing a successful strategic marketing and membership development program. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing responsibilities include:
	Design and facilitate a strategic marketing plan in keeping with the overall mission of the Museum with regular reports to the Executive Director and board. 
	Develop a public relations campaign that effectively highlights and brands the Museum as a dynamic community organization.
	Identify and cultivate relationships with regional media outlets to build partnerships to increase exposure for the Museum.
	Develop and manage the SDAM website to promote the Museum’s mission and programs.
	Creatively utilize social media to elevate Museum exposure.
	Oversee the creation and distribution of all SDAM marketing materials from concept to distribution, manage mailing lists, printing, and marketing analysis on all materials including annual membership brochure, event invitations, posters, SDAM website, press releases, print and online advertisements, and radio and television marketing to ensure message consistency. 
	Develop, manage, and monitor marketing budgets in consultation with the Executive Director. 

Membership Development Responsibilities include: 
	Develop a strategic membership development  plan with short and long term goals that align with the mission of the Museum. 
	Create and manage a dynamic program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and maintain prospective donors, businesses, foundations, and others to invest in the Museum to advance and build programming. 
	Develop a robust annual membership campaign. 
	Work to grow donor base and move current donors toward larger gifts. 
	Develop a program to identify and solicit sponsorships for exhibitions, programs, and special events. 
	Develop, manage, and monitor marketing budget in consultation with the Executive Director. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
	Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Arts Management, Communications, or related field.
	Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing a viable annual membership campaign, marketing, and/or fundraising with confirmed record of success.
	Demonstrated ability or potential to plan, develop, and implement effective presentations and programs. 
	Ability to develop, manage, and execute successful budget projections. 
	Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
	Excellent oral and written communications skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
	Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Arts Management, Communications, or related field.
	Experience creating and maintaining an engaging and socially relevant social media presence to include Facebook and Twitter. 
	Demonstrated collaboration in developing funding proposals to support new and/or enhanced programming.
	Ability to lead/supervise student employees, volunteer groups, and committees. 
	Demonstrated ability to multi-task while maintaining quality control and great customer service at all times.
	Knowledge and interest in the arts.

The South Dakota Art Museum is a dynamic institution featuring regional, national, and international art in addition to vibrant outreach efforts.  As stewards of the state’s art treasures, the South Dakota Art Museum collects, preserves, and exhibits visual art to provide access and education and foster appreciation of the visual arts for the people of South Dakota and its visitors. The SDAM is set on the Campus of South Dakota State University.   SDSU is a land grant institution and the state's largest institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 13,000 students.  

SDSU is located in Brookings, South Dakota, a community of approximately 22,000 near the east central border of South Dakota on Interstate 29.  The city has an excellent K-12 education system, is accessible to major medical facilities, has an active cultural and social environment, and has numerous lakes and parks within driving distance.  It is 50 miles north of Sioux Falls, a city of close to 200,000.
