Can anyone pass on sources of material which argue the pros and cons of the
use of barriers versus the use of interpretive guides in museums (house
museums in particular)?

It is not only an issue about security but quality of experience.

Works that attempt to quantify the fiscal value added by interpretive
guides to the visitor experience would be most welcome.

Thanks
