Please be aware of the following two openings at the Lake County
Discovery Museum in Wauconda, IL.  Both positions are one-year
positions. Please feel free to forward this message as appropriate.

Education Assistant
The Lake County Discovery Museum's Education Assistant is a one-year
position designed to give candidates an opportunity to work within the
visitor services division of a nationally accredited museum.  Areas of
focus are museum education, public programming, front desk/museum
store
staffing, working with volunteers, and assisting with the development
of
exhibit interactives. While this position does not work directly with
collections, they play an important role in shaping the programs and
activities with which the assistant is involved. There may also be
opportunities to assist with the development of exhibits in the
museum's
special exhibition gallery.

The Lake County Discovery Museum is a nationally accredited museum and
a department of the Lake County Forest Preserve District. Museum
exhibits focus primarily on its collections that include the Lake
County
history archives and the world-renowned Curt Teich postcard archives.
Special exhibitions also allow the Museum to explore a variety of
subjects, including popular culture. The position in a one-year paid
position and benefits include discounted forest preserve housing and
forest preserve holidays.

Collections / Exhibitions Assistant
The Lake County Discovery Museum's Collections / Exhibitions Assistant
is a one-year, paid position designed to give candidates an
opportunity
to work within the Collections and Exhibitions division of a
nationally
accredited museum.  Areas of focus for the position include preparing
materials for researchers, working with staff on collections storage
tasks, refining cataloging terminology, exhibition design and
preparation, and managing the Museum's local artist gallery.  The
position also includes occasional work at the Museum front desk and
with
large-scale public events.
