      A colleague of mine who is a Journeyman in our Cabinetmaking
shop is doing a translation P.N. Sprengel's _Handwerke in Tabeller_
printed in 1768 and has asked me to dip into cyberspace for some help
with the translation of some tool names.
      The goal is to discover if these tools have an English
equivalent
and to learn something about their use in the chairmaking and other
woodworking trades of the eighteenth century.
      He has already consulted Josef Gerber's _Die Geshichte des
Hobels_ (_The History of the Woodworking Plane_), a contemporary
dictionary published by the Grimm brothers, and the illustrated
_Duden_, but the tools below still illude him.
      If anyone can suggest a meaning for these terms, another
reference
book, or a person or institution, he would be very grateful.  Private
responses seem most appropriate.
