I am posting the following request for alternative methods of protection
for Betsy Igleheart of the Maine SHPO. The project is the Morse
Libby Mansion in Portland.

Plaster walls of the second floor hall at the top of the staircase are
currently protected from visitors' hands by thin sheets of plexi-glass.
These sheets are held in with plastic plates which are screwed into the
wall; screws do not go through the plexi. Resulting problems from this
arrangement include:  plexi is in direct contact with painted surface;
plexi is bowing out, pulling screws as it does; sharp corners of plexi
catch on visitors' clothing.

Does anyone have an alternative method of protecting the painted plaster
walls? Send your response to me at [log in to unmask]
Thanks,
