POSITION OPENING AT MIT
 
Associate Director, The MIT Museum
 
The MIT Museum seeks an Associate Director responsible for
managing development, administrative, and computing activities.   The
MIT Museum is an accredited museum with collections documenting
the history of the development of science and technology, and
exhibitions and educational programs stressing the interaction between
art and science.
 
Working with Museum and other MIT staff members, develops
and writes fundraising proposals in support of collections
management activities, computerization projects, exhibitions, and
educational programs.  Responsible for identifying and developing
contacts with funding sources; overseeing operating budget, including
grants, of approximately $900,000; producing financial reports and
analyses for Director; and managing collections computerization
projects.  Works closely with Director to develop short- and long-
range plans, goals, and programs.  Qualifications include a minimum of
eight years' experience in museums, with an in-depth understanding of
basic museum operations.  Experience with advanced museum
automation projects highly desirable. Master's Degree in related field
or equivalent training required.
