Christine, we just had a discussion on this very topic and the general
consensus was that some type of graduate-level study is generally required
for a museum career.  If you want to get involved in an art museum in the
curatorial area, at least a masters' in art history specializing in a
particular area is required.  An interdisciplinary program such as you
outlined might work for certain types of museums, but most art museums will
want to see extra work in a specific period or geographical area.  A
certificate or diploma in museum studies can't hurt, if you can afford the
time and cost, but opinion is divided on whether it is actually required.
If you don't want to be a curator, but prefer administration, some business
courses or a degree in art administration or business administration are in
order.
