Thank you, Dr. Alsharekh.

I believe the subject of this war invites way too many
biases that cannot necessarily be sieved due to the
propaganda spewing on both sides of the situation. I
will not personally try to censor this discussion, but
I will tell you that the conversations in this forum
do make me personally uncomfortable.

I am concerned about the precious history that will be
lost--no less so than human lives.

But this goes back to knowing/understanding the
history of the area. As with a number of other
countries against whom the US has gone to war, we
helped to put Hussein where he is today. Dr.
Alsharekh is correct in that regard.

We need to hope that the situation is soon resolved,
and hope that we can rally trained museum personnel to
lend a hand when it is safe to do to attempt to
restore/preserve what can be salvaged. This will not
be the first time in the history of man that war will
have destroyed treasures of yore.

Let's pray to whomever we deed our hopes and
aspirations that this is the last.
