Applications Due July 15 (postmark date)  for the Museum Institute at 
Sagamore

The Museum Institute at Sagamore will be held September 26-29 at Great 
Camp Sagamore in the Adirondacks.   Sponsored by the Upstate History 
Alliance,  the Institute provides museum professionals for a reflective 
and intensive time to consider their work,   network with colleagues 
and learn from a terrific collection of presenters.     This year's 
Institute at Sagamore presenters bring a wide range of perspectives and 
experiences to our topic,  The Public Dimension of Museums.
Speakers this year are:

	Bill Adair,  Rosenbach Library
	Leslie Bedford,   Leadership in Museum Education Program at Bank 
Street College
	Stuart Chase,  Berkshire Museum
	James Chung and Susie Wilkenning,  Reach Advisors
	Cynthia Copeland,  New-York Historical Society
	D. Stephen Elliott,  New York State Historical Association/Farmers 
Museum
	Catherine Harris,  evaluation consultant
	Kristin Hoyokama,  Museum of Chinese in the Americas
	Mersida Ibric and Marcos Stafni,  New York Hall of Science
	Kathryn Myers,  Mass MOCA
	Thom Thacker,  Philipsburg Manor,  Historic Hudson Valley
	Kristin Schweigard,  Albany Institute of History and Art
	
Topics to be covered include:   who are our audiences and what do they 
want?   case studies of teen,  generation Y and family programs,   
using storytelling and museum theater,   introduction to museum 
learning,   your audience on the web,   shoestring marketing,   program 
evaluation,   effective collaborations and creating real change at your 
institution.

The Museum Institute at Sagamore is open to all museum professionals,  
with preference given to New York State participants.   The fee,  
including lodging, meals and all conference materials is $350 for those 
working in New York State,   $500 for out of state participants.   
Attendance is by application only.   An application and additional 
information are on the Upstate History Alliance website,   
www.upstatehistory.org.    Applications are due,  postmarked,  by July 
15,  2006.
