THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND HER PEOPLE Symposium is
your chance to hear about this fascinating subject from a
variety of presenters representing a broad range of
disciplines--from history to science; Federal and non-Federal;
past, present, and future.

HOTEL: The Symposium is being held at the Radisson Hotel
in
downtown Memphis. Rooms at the Radisson Hotel will be
available at a special conference rate of $79.00 plus tax for
single or multiple occupancy.

Make your arrangements with the hotel directly by calling the
reservations desk at 901-528-1800 or 1-800-333-3333, and
identifying yourself as a participant in the "Mississippi River
and Her People" Conference. The fax number is 901-526-3226.

Reservations must be completed by February 18, 1996, to
guarantee the conference rate.

For those arriving by air, shuttle bus and limosine service are
available from the airport. For those driving to Memphis, the
Radisson Hotel is downtown at the corner of Union and Third
Streets.

REGISTRATION: $25 ($10 for students with a school ID)

Make check or money order payable to: Mississippi River and
Her People/Phi Alpha Theta. Mail registration to Phi Alpha

of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee 38120.

Registration includes all paper sessions, the evening speakers,
and admission to the Mud Island Museum and Riverwalk.

MUD ISLAND: Tour this wonderful city-run museum that
gives a
history of the relationship between Memphis and the
Mississippi. Then walk along the Riverwalk, a scale model of
the Mississippi  River from Cairo to the Gulf. Admission to
Mud Island is included in your Symposium registration.

BEALE STREET: Enjoy Saturday night at one of the blues/jazz
clubs on Beale Street. Cost will be approximately $15. Check
at the
registration desk for details and sign-up sheet.
