COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT: MUSEUM INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, May 22-31
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Museums and other heritage organizations hold a wealth of diverse
information that gives meaning to collections, programs, and management
activities.
This course explores the central role of effective, integrated
information management and communication strategies, and helps you to
analyze your needs and develop computer-based management and
communications systems that will serve your institution in the future.
Topics include:
- information as a heritage resource
- analyzing information management and communication objectives,
including collections documentation, research, programming, marketing,
and membership coordination
- steps in planning integrated information management and communications
systems
- preserving, organizing, and disseminating data, images, and sound
- resources and networks for information management and communication
- trends and developing technologies
- ethical and management issues
Instructor: James Blackaby, a collections and information systems
consultant, has extensive experience in the design and development of
information systems for museums
Dates: May 22-31
Please register by: April 26
Fee: $589 Canadian (credit or non-credit alternatives)
Accommodation: On-campus bed & breakfast accommodation is available for
$60.00/night, or residence accommodation at $25-$32/night. Program staff
can advise on off-campus alternatives.
