SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Senior Accountant for the Sales Financial Department.  Responsibilities include timely and accurate preparation of reviewing and approving of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports related to Merchandising Activities, assisting in the development of budgets and forecasts, responsible for preparation and review of audit schedules, worksheets, and analysis for internal and external auditors, for periodic review and reconciliation of selected General Ledger Accounts, and an active participant in selection, design, and implementation of key Merchandising Systems including Inventory Management, POM, Mail Order, and POS. This will also include testing and Interfaces to the Financial Systems.  Sound experience with Automated Financial Systems, preferably Lawson.  The ideal candidate must have the ability to organize, manage, and accomplish diverse tasks.  Solid 2 to 3 years of management experience is needed.  Degree in Accounting/Finance with 5 to 10 years experience is required.  MBA or CPA is helpful but not necessary.  Knowledge of Retail Accounting and Retail Systems is a plus. ASSOCIATE CONSERVATOR

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks an Associate Conservator for the Objects Conservation Department.  Responsibilities include examination and conservation of the Museum's collection of stained glass and other architectural glass, working closely with curators from various curatorial departments (particularly Medieval Art and The Cloisters, ESDA, and the American Wing) who have responsibility for architectural glass collections in establishing treatment priorities, developing exhibition plans for large-scale windows, and evaluating objects being considered for acquisition, developing and implementing plans for the mounting and installation of stained and other architectural glass throughout the Museum, acting as conservation liaison with architects, buildings staff and contractors in devising and carrying out a plan for the environmental protection of stained glass windows included in the building envelope at The Cloisters.  The ideal candidate must have at least 8 years experience required in the conservation of stained glass including experience with a major museum collection, must have experience in the conservation of stained glass "in situ", must have general experience in the conservation of glass objects, must have mastery of all skills necessary to fabricate a stained glass window from design to completion: cutting glass, painting and firing glass, leading, etc., must have the skills necessary to carry out independently the full range of conservation treatments on glass objects in general and stained and architectural glass in particular
Given the scale and architectural setting of stained glass windows in the collection, it is essential that the applicant be able to work collaboratively with other professionals including curators, scientists, architects, engineers, and other conservators.  Degree from a recognized conservation training program with a specialization in stained glass, knowledge of the conservation of glass in general and stained glass in particular including paint consolidation, adhesives, tinted epoxy fills, and releading, knowledge of glass chemistry and the mechanisms of deterioration of glass, knowledge of the history of glass-making techniques and of conservation practices for glass in general and stained and architectural glass in particular, knowledge of protective glazing techniques and other methods for protecting glass exposed to the outdoor environment, knowledge also of environmental issues regarding glass in a museum setting. ASSISTANT RETAIL COMPUTER SYSTEMS COORDINATOR

Responsibilities include maintenance, repair, and technical support for all retail shop registers and pc's, creation, distribution, and archiving of financial reports throughout the merchandising departments, record and input departmental charges, exception adjustments for all retail shops, input and create financial reports based on data cartridges from our Macy's shop, assist in the installation of the register system for all special exhibitions.  The ideal candidate must have strong organizational ability, attention to detail, and neatness required, previous experience with terminals and computers is needed, must be able to prioritize tasks and work conscientiously without constant supervision, strong knowledge and background of computer programs especially Excel and PowerPoint.  BA degree is required. GROUP LEADER RETAIL SALES/ADMINISTRATION

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Group Leader for the Retail Sales/Administration Department.  The major responsibilities for the Group Leader are to provide excellent customer service on the selling floor that will exceed customer expectations.  The Group Leader will participate in zone coverage of the selling floor and achieve sales goals.  The Group Leader will direct shop and stock maintenance, and participate in loss prevention efforts.  The Group Leader will assist the Manager and supervisory staff with the opening and closing functions of the store.  The ideal candidate must be sales oriented, outgoing, and have good interpersonal and communication skills.  Must have 1 to 2 years supervisory experience in Retail Sales, and the ability to supervise, train, motivate staff, and appraise job performance.  Travel will be required between several satellite stores.  B.A. degree is required. HRIS COORDINATOR

Responsibilities include maintaining Museum Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) data, using Lawson software.
