Melinda,

Following in the footsteps of the others, I would have to say the
"non-historical" parts of management, especially if someone works in a small
organization and wears many hats.  Along with board management, development,
and fundraising, I would include human resources and bookkeeping to the mix.
Nothing like being thrusted into a management position unexpectedly and
having a crash course in FMLA.
