  Position:  VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST  (Web site)
                   GG-1084-09
  Salary: $35,310 per year - $45,900 per year

Open to all qualified persons.

  Major Duties:  Incumbent is assigned to the Information Systems
Department of the Treasurer's Office and is responsible for assisting
in the design and production of graphics and layouts published on the
National Gallery of Art's World Wide Web site (www.nga.gov).  Creates
original graphics, converts materials to web compatible graphics,
develops Web page layouts of text and images using HTML, and
determines navigation within assigned projects.  Sends and receives
digital imaging files between personal computer workstations as
needed for Web graphics.  Updates time-based HTML pages. Responds to
external e-mail inquiries pertaining to the Web site received through
Webfeedback or forwards inquiries to appropriate Gallery staff member.

Qualifications Required:
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook
requirements for PF-1084-9.  This requires at least one year of
specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal
service OR two years of graduate education or a Master's degree with
a major in graphics design emphasizing Web page design and
production.  Specialized experience is experience involving Web page
design and production.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook
requirements for PF-1084-9.  This requires at least one year of
specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal
service OR two years of graduate education or a Master's degree with
a major in graphics design emphasizing Web page design and
production.  Specialized experience is experience involving Web page
design and production.

  Basis of Rating:
Applicants meeting basic eligibility requirements will be rated and
ranked on the knowledges, skills and abilities, and other
characteristics (KSA's) required to perform the duties of the
position.  Please review KSA's carefully.  Include in the write-ups
such things as experience in and out of Federal service that gave you
the specific knowledge, skill or ability; objectives of your work;
and evidence of your success (such as  accomplishments, awards
received, etc.)

  Pay, Benefits and Work Schedule:
THIS IS A PERMANENT, PRIVATE FUNDED POSITION WHICH DOES NOT CONFER
COMPETITIVE FEDERAL STATUS TO THE INCUMBENT.  THE SELECTED CANDIDATE
WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
PACKAGE INCLUDING HEALTH INSURANCE,LIFE INSURANCE, RETIREMENT
COVERAGE, AND SICK/ANNUAL LEAVE ACCRUAL.

Conditions of Employment:
