Elizabeth,

I can second Dave Harvey's experience with the leaking of dry pipe
systems that caused damage to objects in storage not only from the
drips of oil but from failure of the joints themselves. The one
system with which I am most familiar, installed in a collections
storage building constructed in 1995-1997, had so many problems that
it was completely replaced with a wet pipe system in 2004,
necessitating major relocations of collections in existing storage
areas while the replacement took place and a general dislocation of
people, offices, labs, etc., for the better part of a year.

If you would like more detailed information, please contact me off-list.
