America On Wheels (AOW), a private non-profit transportation museum (over
the road vehicles, including wagons, cycles, cars, and trucks) planned for
Allentown, Pennsylvania, seeks an Executive Director to lead the
organization into its first permanent home.  The executive director will be
responsible for all levels of the museum’s development, including
continuing strategic planning, community outreach, supervision of staff,
plus the development and creating of the 13-million dollar museum scheduled
to open in early 2005.  Upon completion of the building, the executive
director will be responsible for all phases of the museum’s operation,
including increasing staffing levels, implementing an aggressive schedule
of exhibits, programs and revenue-generating activities, as well as
building supportive partnerships in the public and private sectors.

The Search Committee is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, energetic
individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.  Person
must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of museum management experience.
Experience with facility development programs helpful.  A Bachelors Degree
is required and a Masters Degree preferred.  Candidates with extensive and
successful museum management experience in lieu of a degree will also be
considered.  Salary competitive and commensurate with experience and
potential. Position begins June/July, 2003.
