Actually, a piano will decline UNLESS it is played.  The action of the keys
and the working of the inner parts requires use.  You might check into this
further, but unless a piano is played, parts seize up and decline in a very
rapid fashion.  Perhaps if it were another instrument, I might agree with
you.... but I actually think you might be extending the life of the piano by
keeping it tuned, conditioned and used. :>)
