The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies, located in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, is offering a half-day workshop on "Health and Safety: Hazard Communications" taught by the renowned Monona Rossol, on Wednesday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This workshop is a unique opportunity--not to be missed!

If you need to know which OSHA, EPA, CPSC, or FDA rulings are applicable to your museum and/or park work environment then you need to attend this workshop. If you are the designated Safety Officer and responsible for training other personnel, then you need to attend this workshop. If you are an individual who uses any type of product: household cleaners, paints, insecticides, solvents--then you need to attend this workshop.

The workshop will cover health and safety in the museum environment and in private practice. Topics will include:
Applicable laws and standards, and the regulators of those laws (OSHA, EPA, CSPC, and FDA);
Worker and employee obligations;
Basic Concepts of Occupational Health and Toxicity;
Precautions; and
Hazards and Precautions for Types of Material

A certificate will be issued upon completion of the workshop that certifies the participant has received all the information one would need to do a Hazard Communications Training.

Partial funding comes from the financial support of the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works. The workshop is being promoted through a collaboration with the Illinois Association of Museums and the Illinois Heritage Association.

Registration is $50 and includes lunch and morning coffee. Overnight accommodations for Tuesday July 17th are available at the Campbell Center for $40 per night. Discount for AIC, IAM, and IHA members.

To register or for information contact the Campbell Center at (815) 244-1173 or by e-mail <[log in to unmask]>
