Stephanie, here is the purpose of this list as defined
in the FAQ at the bottom of each and every post.

Museum-L is a general purpose, cross-disciplinary
electronic discussion list for museum professionals,
students, and all others interested in museum related
issues. All museum related topics are acceptable for
posting and discussion at this time. Membership in
Museum-L is open to anyone with e-mail service.

Inasmuch as there was a thread on ID that went on for
more than a week and engaged quite a few in thoughtful
discussion, this post clearly fell within the
guidelines of this list.

My guess is your discipline may be art or history, but
please don't miss the point there are science museums
as well and the tie to the Smithsonian and its
allowing the facility to be used to screen a film on
Intelligent Design clearly makes this post allowable.
This was a follow-up to that thread (see the archives
for the period commencing May 6 of this year).

If you investigate the archives and believe this to
still be without the purpose of the list, I'd like to
know how you came to that conclusion.
