     Greetings

My name is David Bobeck and I am the lighting designer (among other
things) for the US. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC.

I joined this list a month or so ago to gauge the amount of traffic
related to Museum Lighting. While I haven't seen much, if any,
except for older postings in the archives, I would like to present
an opportunity for all interested parties to join a new mailing
     list.

The name of the list is Museum Exhibit Lighting Tech, or MELT for
     short.

The purpose of the list is to discuss technical issues relating to
the design and particularly the implementation of museum lighting.
So far there are about 16 or so subscribers, so the list is small
and receives very little traffic. I'd like to see more interest in
the list and an increase in traffic, as I suspect there is quite a
bit of lighting related info that doesn't get posted to Museum-L
simply due to its somewhat specialized interest base.

Subscribers to MELT include museum professionals from major
museums in DC, New York, and Boston, other lighting designers, one
conservator, as well as representatives of lighting manufacturers
     and other concerns.
It is a fairly wide base of experience for such a small group and
the list has the potential to be a very useful place to exchange
     valuable information.

If you are interested in joining, please just send me a regular
     e-mail at:

...and I will add you to the list. Right now subscription and
other changes are all done manually, so it may take a day or two
for me to make the change.

MELT was started in June of this year by myself and Richard
Pullman, of the National Air and Space Museum. It exists and is
hosted for free on the Fourfold Symmetry server based in Ottawa,
     Ontario.
The list is currently being archived on a spare yahoo mail account
that was set up specifically for this purpose.

Thanks, and hope to hear from lots of you.

     All the best,

     David Bobeck
