Though I know nothing about this, I was having a vision of a Civil War
soldier putting one hand on his hip and saying hey girlfriend!
I think Deb is dead on...today's speech patterns are so different.  I even
catch this on "That 70s Show" -- the young actors have inflections that we
did not use in the 70s. Being aware of the contemporary patterns, the
Chandler Bingisms, the California Girlisms, is most of the battle.
