We are a design firm working with small and mid-sized museums. The company
principles worked in a university museum for 15 years, and like most smaller
facilities, they had very limited budgets. We are increasingly being asked
to incorporate digital audio, visual, and interactive components into our
designs. We want to be sure that these newer technologies are not too
complex, costly or technically problematic for the museums we serve. For
example; we are looking to use audio with first person narratives,
potentially with a film showing the speaker, in one of our designs. We are
curious if anyone has had working experience with any small firms that
specialize in these types of presentations, particularly ones that you would
recommend. We would be interested in hearing from you that you have found
to be effective and what approaches didn't work so well for your audiences.
Also, we are working on a travelling exhibit, so we are also interested
in using sound and video stations that are portable and easily moved.
