Trying to think of jargon......

I applied for TOIL so I could deaccession some object-like material from
the touch trolley collection.

(I asked for time off in lieu of overtime so I could go through the
things we have that are not quite good enough to be on display or in the
research collection, but are used as an explanatory adjunct by a person
staffing a low mobile cupboard on which objects are displayed for
visitors to handle under supervision.)
