I just give the URL, but I doubt that there will ever be a satisfactory
standard because, unlike books, websites have no permanence, so their value
as references is very limited.

One solution would be for 'serious' websites to maintain a reliable archive
(for ever?) or for their content to be kept by some central body, in the
way that the British Museum keeps all printed material.

But how do you define a 'serious' website?
