Dear Kim,

Permit me to suggest visiting the AIC WEB site http://aic.stanford.edu: there you will find a list of trained textile conservators
who are knowledgeable about the treatments of hats and textiles as well as mold. I am relatively sure that there should be a
qualified conservator in your area.

If these hats are historically significant, I would beware of "garden wisdom" and "cookbook" solutions as they could invite future
degradation of these objects.

Regards,

Jim moss
