Kim,

Since your concern is related to getting the terminology right for
accreditation, check page 161 of the Past Perfect manual under "The
Lexicon"; they state that their lexicon is based on "The Revised
Nomenclature for Museum Cataloguing" by Greeno, Blackaby and the
Nomenclature Committee.

Perhaps this, plus the call/email to Past Perfect previously suggested,
can relieve your concerns.

Hello ,

We recently purchased PastPerfect, and we're under the gun to digitize
our
records for reaccreditation and a grant deadline. None of us have
experience
with databases, or familiarity yet with the program. I don't want to
get off
on the wrong foot.

A past employee began a few records, and used "Communication Artifact"
under
category, "painting" (for example) under object name, and "art" under
sub-category. Is this standard? It seems awkward. I'd appreciate any
guidelines on
how to use these fields properly and how others have possibly altered
fields. I'm worried about entering data in the wrong fields, and
needing to go
back and redo it all.

I know this is a short-cut asking for help, but I'm somewhat desperate.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

With kind regards,
