SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION LIBRARIES
The Smithsonian Institution Libraries is seeking an experienced Librarian, GS-1410-9 at $33,650 per year.  DUTIES: The incumbent performs primary duties such as reference, research, and bibliographic services within the Anthropology Branch Library.  Provides a broad array of reference service in the subject areas covered by the branch.  Responds to requests effectively, orally, and in writing for information in a variety of historical, scientific, technical, and professional fields including request where the bibliographic data is abbreviated, incomplete or incorrectly cited, using a wide variety of published and online sources.  Prepares general and selective bibliographies as required.  Performs comprehensive bibliographic searches, utilizing a wide variety of published and online sources.  Provides technical advice and assistance to scientific and professional staff on literature searching.  Attends professional meetings, seminars and conferences.  Supervises, oversee and participate in such operations as intra- and interlibrary loan, or circulation, serials control.  Participates in special projects and committees as assigned.  QUALIFICATIONS: Professional knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of librarianship.  Knowledge of Anthropology.  Knowledge of print and electronic resources sufficient to provide reference and research services in an Anthropology Library.  Knowledge of principles and practices of public service and education.
