out there see this!  I'm guessing the salary to be low 30's.  Enjoy.

POSITION TITLE: PUBLIC PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
DEPARTMENT: EDUCATION
CLASSIFICATION: FULL-TIME, EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: PROGRAMS MANAGER


POSITION SUMMARY
Develop and implement innovative, engaging educational experiences for 
diverse museum audiences in a variety of on-site program formats including 
weekly, monthly and seasonal class series, summer and spring break camps, 
sleep-overs and scout badge workshops. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate the content development and logistical implementation of 
approximately 30 sessions of weeklong full and half day summer and spring 
break camps for children ages 4 - 10. Collaborate with museum staff and 
outside consultants to enrich the educational value of existing curricula 
and develop engaging new topics with an emphasis on science and technology. 
Maintain proactive oversight over logistics including reservations, 
marketing, staff hiring, training and supervision, field trip scheduling 
and transportation, caregiver communications, budget and supply management, 
and evaluation. Model effective teaching methods by serving as Lead or 
Assistant Teacher as appropriate. 

2. Direct and coordinate implementation of holiday Gingerbread Workshops

3. Develop and implement Friday night sleep-overs for scouts and other 
audiences

4. Refresh content and implement scout badge workshops in coordination with 
the Lone Star Girl Scout Council and other scouting entities

5. Facilitate gallery programs and/or school tours once a week

6. Collaborate with Science Education Manager to implement science outreach 
events such as Austin Science Fun Day, Regional Science Fair, Dia de los 
libros

7. Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to enhance public awareness and 
appeal of program offerings

8. Collaborate with Programs Manager and other educators to evaluate the 
effectiveness and appeal of all programs. Incorporate feedback into plans 
for existing and new programs 

9. Develop and monitor budgets with emphasis on maximizing earned revenue 
potential

10. Cultivate community collaborations to optimize museum resources

11. Participate as an active member of the Education Planning Team (EPT) to 
develop and achieve the museum’s strategic objectives and to synergize 
educational experiences across departments


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hourly program staff, contract educators, volunteers


CREDENTIALS/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors Degree in Education or relevant curriculum content area
• Experience in classroom instruction and/or informal family learning 
settings
• Academic background or instructional experience in science a strong asset


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Familiarity with formal educational practices, standards and resources
• Ability to adapt classroom curricula into playful, informal educational 
experiences that stimulate curiosity and confidence in learning
• Positive attitude and physical vitality to create and present engaging 
activities for family audiences 
• Enthusiasm for learning and inspiring others
• Excellent written communication skills and proficiency in word processing 
and budget spreadsheet software
• Excellent public contact skills with young children, families and 
educators from diverse backgrounds 
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Spanish language proficiency a strong asset 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 
Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings as required by program 
schedules that meet audience needs
