For one thing you require "explosion proof" (I think that's it without
looking it up) freezers for nitrate film.

I just noticed Wilhelm has his whole book Care and Preservation of Colour
Photographic Materials online as a giant pdf download, if you don't have a
copy. It also has a section on nitrate film, different types of freezers etc
(I'm not sure how technically up to date it is on the latest models, but it
certainly gives good info).

I think there are also a couple of papers on film/freezers on his site too.
Right now my web connection is down - search for Wilhelm Research and hunt
around. I'll try and post the link later.

There's also a heck of a photo in it of a nitrate film storage place that
self combusted....
