Perhaps this has been mentioned already, but the best "regional"
description I have ever read is "The Nine Nations of North America" by one
of Hank's affiliates, Joel Garreau. I have lived in "The Bread Basket,"
"Ecotopia," "MexAmerica," and now "The Empty Quarter" and his descriptions
and vignettes have been right on in every case. I grew up in Wisconsin and
"The Bread Basket" is far more accurately descriptive of that experience
than "Midwest" could ever be!
