My apologies to those who have already encountered this announcement
on NEW-LIST or elsewhere. We are trying to recruit as many historians,
museum professionals and other scholars as possible.

Dom Pisano of the Aeronautics Department of the National Air and Space
Museum and I are sponsoring AEROSP-L, a new Internet discussion list
on the history and material culture of aerospace. The list is
directed at scholars and members of the museum profession who are
interested in the ways that aerospace has shaped the twentieth
century politically, culturally, socially, and economically. It is
intended to provide a forum for sharing experience, ideas, reflections,
comments, and sources of information on the history of and artifacts
relating to aerospace.

Dr. Pisano has suggested an initial reading for the list:

Hansen, James. R. 1989. Aviation History in the Wider View.
  _Technology and Culture_ 30(3): 643-656.

We hope this list to become a major resource for aerospace museum
professionals.
