The Wisconsin Maritime Museum will commemorate the events of September 11,
2001, by raising the American flag for the first time from the "tower" our
new 26,000 sq. ft. addition and cooperating with other local groups
(including other museums, fire and police departments) in various
ceremonies. These ceremonies may culminate in a peace demonstration using
floating luminaries created by community members and then sent adrift on the
Manitowoc River at dusk and escorted to Lake Michigan by the Museum's former
Coast Guard boat ICELANDER before recovery.
