I agree with Carol McDavid that museums need to open the process of
interpretation and expose it to public view.  If we take our educational
responsibilities seriously, we should give the museum visitor the chance to
challenge us.  That can be done directly in exhibitions or it can be done
in public programing.  But post-modernist or not, we should be pretty careful
about asserting a monopoly on the Truth.  To do so will make us not only
boring and arrogant, but irrelevant.
