Collections Manager, Southern Oregon Historical Society, Medford, Oregon

Full-time position to care for and catalog collections, maintain
computerized records, and assist Curator of Collections with collections
management and exhibitions. Degree in history, museum studies, or related
field and two years' experience in museum registration or collections
care. Master's degree in museum studies may be substituted for experience.
ARGUS collections software management experience a plus. Salary:
$18,000-$20,000 with full benefits (medical, vacation, sick leave, etc.)

JOB SPECIFICS:

1. Manages the care and use of the three-dimensional collections by
ensuring proper storage, handling, conservation, and exhibition
techniques.

2. Manages the collections cataloging records (ARGUS, worksheets) and
associated records (inventories, photo logs, conservation records) by
ensuring accurate and consistent cataloging and artifact processing
procedures.

3. Maintains access to the collections by cataloging the collections and
responding to public and staff requests and inquiries concerning the
collections.

4. Assists with utilization of volunteers in the collections department by
preparing instructions, assembling needed materials, and training
volunteers in tasks.
