>1. Do volunteers have a formal "volunteer organization"?
Yes, we have a guild of volunteers which has regular meetings, training
sessions, and updates on new exhibitions and programs.

2. Do they have a professional staff member to coordinate their
>activites?
Yes, we have a volunteer coordinator.

>3. Who does the volunteer coordinator report to? a) they are their own

>they are a part of development department; d) they are part of community

She reports to the education department. For further info on our program,
contact Cindy Jenkins, [log in to unmask], or Nancy Crane, our Director of
Education, [log in to unmask]

Another organization which may be of more pertinent help to you is the
Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden located at 6500 S New Hope Road, Belmont, NC,
phone 704-825-4490. They have not been in existence for very many years so
all their volunteer program set-up procedures, and its mistakes and
successes, should be fresh in their memories.
