Another piece of advice: if interested in an MA in Art History a very important
consideration should be whether or not the schools even offer a terminal
master's degree. Two of those (so-called) "top-ranked" schools don't offer them
-- if you get a master's it means you completed your coursework and didn't
complete a dissertation. Being in a PhD program and only wanting a master's is
a good way to make the grad school experience less rewarding and more
frustrating. There are many fine programs designed to support students seeking
MA's and that view the MA as an end in itself rather than as a stop along the
way to a PhD.
Second, on a very practical note, the school that will put you least in debt is
often the best choice, whether through fellowships, cheap tuition, or a
combination!
