For German restaurants you can't forget Maders

and for beer, Sprecher (plus brownie points for claiming you went to a
museum)

And of course if you have time to travel come by and see the Wisconsin
Veterans Museum
in Madison. Madison is about an hour west of Milwaukee and en route to the
Portage/Baraboo area
discussed earlier.

The Milwaukee Public Museum, Art Museum, and Zoo are popular. I also like
Old World Wisconsin (an hour+ west), St. Joan of Arc Chapel (on Marquette
campus), and Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum (the gardens with a lake
view are lovely). Miller Park is nice to look at too...if only the baseball
stacked up.

As for dining, a true Milwaukee experience should included a fish fry and a
beer. The following are personal favorites and they come with a bit of
history:

- Historic Turner Restaurant, an 1880s landmark with German immigrant
history
- Brown Bottle Pub housed in the old Schlitz Brewery tasting room
- Stout Brothers Public House has restored 19th century cream city brick and
several on-site brews

These and tons of others Wisconsin restaurants can be found at
www.foodspot.com <http://www.foodspot.com/> .

If you enjoy cinema, try:

- Oriental Theater (at North Ave. & Farwell) was built in the 1920s. It
shows foreign and indy film plus a Kimball Theater pipe organ rises up out
of the stage and plays before the 7:00 show Friday and Saturday nights.

- Times Cinema (at Vliet and 60th) has some memorabilia. The show list
favors Hitchcock, with the owner having an eerie resemblance, but also runs
classics like "Casablanca," "Das Boot" and "Wizard of Oz." The popcorn is
the best!
