Job Description
Exhibitions Project Manager

Reports to: Director of Planning & Program Development
Full-time annual contract position for four years

The New York Hall of Science, New York City's only hands-on Science museum,
is seeking an Exhibitions Project Manager.  The Hall is planning a 55,000
square foot expansion, designed by Polshek Partners Architects, scheduled to
open in spring, 2004.

The expansion will feature 15,000 square feet of state-of-the-art
interactive exhibitions on a number of different themes.  We are seeking an
energetic, experienced individual to manage the design and fabrication of
these exhibitions in conjunction with content experts at the Hall and
external exhibition designers and fabricators.

This is a rare opportunity to shape cutting-edge exhibitions in a highly
visible setting.

Functions:

· Creation and monitoring of project milestones
· Monitoring of project budgets
· Interdepartmental coordination
· Coordination and management of external designers, software developers,
fabricators, and other consultants
· Supervise installation of exhibitions

Required Qualifications:

· Five years of management experience in hands-on exhibition design and
fabrication
· Five years of project management experience in a fast-paced, creative
setting
· The ability to coordinate many projects simultaneously
· The ability to work with different project designers and content
developers
· Familiarity with science museum practices, including evaluation and
prototyping
· Excitement and enthusiasm for hands-on, interactive science learning

Other Qualifications:

· Familiarity with software development and user interfaces
· Familiarity with various computer and digital imaging hardware platforms
· College degree in design, industrial design, or related field
