After my previous posting on this subject I have received several
enquiries about the 'Museums Journal' articles; there for I'm posting a
general reply in the hope others may be interested.

The articles referred to are:
A Special Concern (Edmund Southworth assesses the status of human remains
in UK museums and calls for equal treatment for all) Museums Journal, July
1994, pp:23-25

Treasured Bones (Demands for the return of human remains - and cultural
'treasures' - are a smoke screen for the real needs of oppressed
minorities, argues Norman H Nail) Museums Journal, July 1994, pp:32-34

Burying the Past (Moira Simpsonn reports the results of a survey that
finds many UK museums have removed remains from display or agreed to
return them to their place of origin - with a few notable exceptions)

The Museums Journal is available from:
The Museums Association,
42 Clerkenwell Close,
London EC1R 0PA
England
Fax +44 (0)71 250 1929
