Cultural Resource Management at the University of Victoria

Registration is now underway for our upcoming course, "The Fabric of
Heritage Buildings", March 13-22:

COURSE DESCRIPTION
To preserve heritage buildings, it is necessary to understand the
construction techniques and materials that give them their special
character. This course examines building styles and structural
elements encountered in historic wood and masonry buildings, and the
research, investigation, and recording techniques used to plan,
organize, and document the conservation process.
Approaches to preservation and adaptation, upgrading to contemporary
building and seismic standards, planning and implementing
conservation strategies, maintenance and disaster planning are
covered. Diverse architectural resources and conservation projects in
the Victoria area provide a focus for case studies and field work.

Instructor: Stuart Stark is a heritage building consultant with
extensive experience in conservation and restoration projects from
private residences to historic sites
Dates: March 13 - 22
Please register by: February 16
Fee: $589 Canadian
Accommodation: On-campus bed & breakfast accommodation is available,
or we can provide information on other options.
