Many Science Centres and Science Museums use Van de Graaff generators for
static electricity demonstrations.

I would appreciate comments on the safety of these machines, particularly when
used for demos such as standing hair on-end where visitors are charged using
the generator (under supervision, of course!). Comments, either on or off the
list, will be very much appreciated.
