For those of you folks who have to do a lot of travel (out of town lectures
for your institution, courier duties, etc.) for work, do you have built-in
flexi or comp time?

Can this work in favor in regards to accruing time or are you monetarily
copensated as you are virtually at work 24-7 during your away time from
office and home? For instance, lets say you are asked to be somewhere for
2 weeks. That is 2 weeks away from home, they do provide a per diem and
your regular pay but what happens when you have to hire house/pet/baby
sitters? What if you have a partner who is housebound and/or cannot drive
and depends on you?

I am particularly interested in learning if the Federal Government sponsors
flexi or comp time for employees who are asked to be away from their homes
for an extended time.

Thanks for any information!
