Title: Museum Assistant Director (Curator/James Monroe Museum and
Memorial Library)

Position: Mary Washington College is recruiting for an indiovidual to be
responsible for the continual and professional care of the James Monroe
Museum's collections, and participate in the management of daily
operations and future planning. The Assistant Director will manage all
aspects of the museum collections of objects, books and archival
materials; supervise educational and interpretive functions including
public outreach programs, the training of guides and the direction of
interns; creation of special exhibitions; development of educational
materials offered in the Museum Shop; represent the museum at
professional gatherings and supervise volunteers.
Required qualifications: previous supervisory experience, previous
experience working in museum management, previous experience working with
the public, excellent organizational skills. Degree required with
additional graduate work in administration, education, museum studies or
history; or equivalent combination of training and experience may be
substituted for education and experience.
